Spiritual Healings

Each Wednesday evening members and guests share how they have applied Christian Science to their life and the healing and blessings that resulted from that prayerful application. Over the past few months there have been testimonies about:

From our children:

Horse troubles
A young student was having trouble with her horse while at summer camp. He seemed grumpy, lacked spirit, and didn't seem to like being with her.  She was angry and unhappy. Then she realized that it was not the horse's fault.  She began to pray to know that the horse was created by God and was therefore already happy and bright!  The next day the horse was much more cooperative, fast, and enjoyed being with her.  She had a great time with him the rest of the summer and was very grateful for the healing.

Test-taking
Another child reported being afraid that she would not pass a certain test at a "Tae-Kwon-Do" class she was taking.  Praying to know that God was with her and was her strength, she went forward with confidence and was able to pass the test.

From the adults

• Vision restored.
  A young mother recently shared that as she was working at the computer her eyesight began to get fuzzy. As she looked from the computer to other reading materials she found the same thing happening. In that weeks Bible lesson which Christian Scientists study every morning she found wonderful citations relating to sight. As she studied, prayed and pondered these truths her sight cleared and by evening all was well. (S&H: 214:14)
• God's help during final exams
  A young woman shared how she was healed of fear prior to taking her final exam in graduate school. She had become so frightened she called her mom for prayerful help. Her mom referred her to a hymn in the Christian Science Hymnal. The hymn lifted her thought to joy and confidence as she realized God's power and presence. She took the test with calmness and joy and passed with flying colors.
• A woman reported the quick healing of a bee sting.
• A young women reported that she sprained her ankle while playing tennis.  She knew she could correct her thought and that she would be healed.  She did and continued to play without any discomfort.   
• A gentleman testified that his mother called and said that she was feeling faint and not breathing well.  The son hung up the phone and began to pray.  In a short time the mother called back saying that she was perfectly healed.  All was well. They both expressed  much gratitude for the effectiveness of Christian Science healing.
• Another testimony of a sprained ankle.
  The testifier at first didn't think too much about it, and then realized that he should give specific mental treatment to the situation.  He did and the ankle was quickly healed.  His point was not to be lazy about these things but to deal with them thoroughly through scientific prayer.
• Safety when flying. 
  A family was traveling home from a trip East when it was announced that the plane would have to make an emergency landing because of  a problem in the lavatories.  The family prayed to know that God was governing everyone, the pilot and the plane.  There was a safe landing although in a different city.  Later, on take off from another city an engine blew up.  Again, with great confidence in God's almighty presence and care the family prayed.  The first lines of a hymn, "Everlasting arms of love are beneath, around, above" came to one of the family members. She also held to the fact of God's omnipresence and complete control in every situation. Her granddaughter, sitting next to her was praying with her, and unafraid they both held to the Truth of Gods complete protection.  The plane returned and landed safely.  Provision was provided for the night and the next morning a final flight home was without incident.
• Severe burn healed
  A woman testified to the healing of a severe burn to the hand while making dinner for her daughter and husband.  Lifting her hand from the hot stove she wrapped it in a towel and went out side, sat on the grass and prayed.  Soon the pain stopped and she went back and finished the meal.  That evening she could feel the blisters yielding and by the next morning there was little evidence that anything had happened and no pain.  Again, much gratitude for the practicality and effectiveness of Christian Science.
• Supply met through honesty
  A young women shared how, when she decided,at the last minute to join other family members at an outdoor concert, she found that she did not have the money for parking.  Telling the attendant that she would just drive through and come back with the money, he let her in.   With all the people coming in, the thought came that she could just stay in, but she drove out, parked and found the needed money in her car and returned.  When she finally got to the gate to purchase tickets for the event, a person stopped her and offered her and her daughter two tickets for the show, free!  It turned out that the tickets were situated in the row right behind her family!! 
• Harmonious childbirth
  A young woman reported of her prayer before and during the birth of her child.  At one point the attendant said that the baby needed to come before the end of one hour or there would be serious consequences.  The young woman spoke to her Christian Science practitioner, who had been supporting her during this experience, about the situation, and they both continued to pray.  She knew that God controlled her and not a physical body.  Exactly in one hour the child was delivered perfectly.  Much gratitude was expressed for God's loving care.
• Pets
  A woman was taking her little dog on a long walk, as she does each morning when the dog suddenly just laid down and wouldn't
  move.  She began praying immediately, picked up the dog and carried him home.  There she placed him down next to his water bowl and went away to pray.
  When the dog did not respond immediately the family became alarmed and the dog was taken to the vet.  After some time the dog was returned, no better.  So the family turned whole heartily to God and scientific prayer in Christian Science was given.  In a short time the dog was fine and his happy little self again.  All rejoiced in God's loving care of all His creatures.
